As loving parents, we  looked for the best place for the day care we needed.
We looked at the large child care centers owned by the national child care

We would question ourselves, which one should we pick, because they all have there own types of problems for sure? They also have their advantages as well.

Over the years  we ended up trying them all, and we learn much from both.
That is why we now can advise anyone and say, please do the right research.

they live close to you, even next door maybe.

Why parents need to find a list of licensed child care providers in their parish in the State of Louisiana?

As parents we have found ourselves having to trust others now days. Because so many parents need to work, they need to leave their children with someone, so they can work.

Even if we would like to just have time away for a few hours, it is hard to find where we can safely leave them. All responsible parents need to feel their children are safe where they are and who they are with.

We all who have children want our children to get total child care each day of their lives.

In most cases we want our children to have more than we had in life. We try to give them all that we think that is the best of life, as well. We now can get all the information on how to give total child care due to the information age of the internet. We really can find the needed child care dos and don’t about every aspect.

State Child Care Licensing

State Child Care Licensing or  Child Care Facility Licensing for Child Care Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

There are two types of licensing classifications at Department of Children & Family Services:

It will tell you the following:

Child Day Care Center Licensing:

* Child Day Care Center – any place or facility operated by any institution, society, agency, corporation, person or persons, or any other group for the purpose of providing care, supervision, and guidance of 7 or more children, not including those related to the caregiver, unaccompanied by parent or guardian, on a regular basis for at least 12 1/2 hours in a continuous 7-day week.

Residential Care and Special Population Licensing:

* Child Residential Facility – any place, facility or home operated by any institution, society, agency, corporation, person or persons or any other group to provide full-time care (24 hour residential care) for 4 or more children under the age of 18 years who are not related to the operators, and whose parents or guardians are not residents of the same facility, with or without transfer of custody.

* Adoption Agency - a child-placing agency that places children in a family household of one or more persons that has been approved by the agency to accept a child for adoption.

* Child Foster Care Agency – a child placing agency that places children into an approved family foster home for a planned period of substitute care when their own families cannot or will not care for them. Substitute Family Care Programs are no longer licensed by the Department of Children & Family Services

* Maternity Home – any place in which any person, society, agency, corporation, or facility receives, treats or cares for within a period of six months, more than one illegitimately pregnant woman, either before, during or within two weeks after childbirth. This definition shall not include any place or facility which receives and provides services for women who receive maternity care in the home of a relative within the sixth degree of kindred, computed according to civil law, or general or special hospitals in which maternity treatment and care is part of the medical services performed and the care of children only brief and incidental.

* Transitional Placing Program – a program that places youth, at least 16 years of age, in an independent living situation supervised by a provider with the goal of prepaing the youth for living independently without supervision.

Do I qualify?

The licensing regulations for the programs listed below are available on-line by selecting a program type.

#1 * Child Residential Care Facility ,  where you will get sixty sixty pages on a  PDF to review under Title 67 #2 * Child Placing Agencies , where you will get fourty one pages on PDF to review under Title 48 #3 * Maternity Home, where you get six pages to review under Title 67.

Initial Applications:
For initial applications, a fee of $25.00 is required with the application form. This non-refundable fee will be applied toward the license fee when the facility is licensed. All fees are to be paid by certified check or money order made payable to the Department of Children & Family Services. Do NOT send cash, business or personal checks. Initial applications will remain on file and open for 60 days. Applications on file for more than 60 days will be closed.

After the completed application has been received by DCFS, it will request that inspections be made by the Office of the State Fire Marshal, Office of Public Health, Sanitarian Services, and any other appropriate local agencies (Zoning Department, City Fire Department, etc.). Even though the Bureau of Licensing makes these requests, it is the responsibility of the applicant to obtain the inspections and get the approvals.

After the application form and initial fee have been received and processed, you will be contacted by DCFS to schedule the initial inspection survey by a Licensing Specialist. All of the appropriate agencies listed above must give their approval prior to licensing and occupancy. Any additional licensing fees are due after the initial survey and prior to issuance of a license.

  • Class “A” Child Day Care Regulations

    • Please note that the Class A Child Day Care Minimum Standards, formerly published in the Louisiana Administrative Code under Title 48, Part I, Chapter 53, Sections 5301-5339, are now published in the Code under Title 67, Part III, Chapter 73, Sections 7301-7339.
    • Letter to Class A providers reminding facilities that provide transportation that they are required to conduct a visual check of the vehicle to ensure that no child is left in the vehicle. (07.10.09)
  • Appendix A
  • Class B Child Day Care Center
    • Please note that the Class B Child Day Care Minimum Standards, formerly published in the Louisiana Administrative Code under Title 48, Part I, Chapter 53, Sections 5355-5385, will now be published in the Code under Title 67, Part III, Chapter 73, Sections 7355-7385.
